Easter Recipes
One thing everyone seems to enjoy when Easter comes around is a great meal created using some very special Easter recipes. Family gatherings as well as church breakfasts are organized to take place on Easter. Many of the recipes are handed down through the generations, and everyone looks forward to their favorite food.
This is one of the favorite holidays of the year for families to get together, many times with multiple generations including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. They all have a nice meal together that has been prepared by one person or, more often, a pot luck style with everyone taking part.
Easter traditions
A popular traditional Easter dinner consists of a baked ham, which is usually glazed, deviled eggs, vegetables, potatoes, dinner rolls or bread, and relish trays. Deviled eggs are generally made a certain way without too many variations. However, a number of Easter recipes are often used for a variety of vegetable dishes.
Green Bean Casserole is a delicious recipe that is used at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. It is considered a holiday recipe and it is quite easy and inexpensive to make. It can be made using frozen green beans or canned. Add a couple of cans of cream of mushroom soup and some French fried onion rings, and all you have to do is pop it in the oven.
Potatoes can be fixed either by simply mashing them, baking them, or boiling them. These can be regular potatoes or Easter recipes using sweet potatoes and marshmallows. Many people make these in different ways to serve with their Easter meal.
Easter desserts
Desserts of all sorts are usually offered. There are cakes, cupcakes, pies, and cookies. These are usually decorated to fit in with the Easter theme and are all quite delicious. Cakes and cupcakes can be made to look like Easter baskets or bunnies. Cookies can also be decorated to look like different icons of Easter. Children especially love getting in the kitchen to help make the cupcakes and cookies. Most pre-made cookie dough will have some Easter recipes for making seasonal cookies.
Dessert breads can be served at any time of day on Easter. One such bread has a few names such as Monkey Bread and Plucking Bread. It’s easily made by using canned biscuits, melted butter, sugar and cinnamon. The biscuits are divided into fourths, and soaked in melted butter. Put the sugar and cinnamon together in a paper or plastic bag. Place the pieces of biscuit in the bag a few at a time and shake them up to coat with the sugar mixture. Stack these pieces in a Bundt cake pan and bake. These are not only easy but delicious and can add a lot to your Easter gathering.
