Easter Sermon

For people who attend church, the Easter sermon is quite possibly one of the most anticipated religious events of the year. This is the sermon that offers hope and peace to everyone who is a believer in a higher power, specifically Jesus Christ, the son of God. It is the story of how Jesus was crucified on the cross and then rose from the dead on the third day.

Ministers spread the Good News

The word that ministers, priests and rabbis want to share with their parishioners is that Jesus was sent to spread the word about his heavenly father, and then he was crucified for the sins of everyone on the earth. There are some differences in the Easter sermon, depending on what faith you belong to, but that is generally what they are trying to get across.

Every Easter people flock to their respective churches and temples to take part in the special services that take place to celebrate this day. Sometimes this special holiday is the only time a person  attends a church service all year. Many churches hold an Easter breakfast for the community to attend. It doesn’t matter if the people attending are members of the church or not. All are welcome to come and experience warm fellowship and wonderful food.

Sunrise services are popular during Easter week

Sunrise services are very popular on Easter morning. Typically, several churches in a community pull together and hold a sunrise service at one central location. As the name implies, this is an Easter service that is held at sunrise. There is music as well as an Easter sermon to enjoy. Sometimes there is a choir assembled especially for this service who will be singing as the sun rises. It is all very meaningful and effective.

Some churches will hold 2 or 3 services on Easter. This helps the members of these churches to make it to the Easter service that is most convenient for them. A lot of larger churches like to do this because there are so many members that it is easier to fit everyone in the sanctuary if they come at different times. Also, doing things this way, means that none of the church members need miss the Easter sermon.

Various services are held during Easter week

As there are different parts of the Easter season, you may find yourself at church for several services throughout the week. These are services for such days as Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Palm Friday. All of this culminates with the main Easter service that occurs on Easter Sunday. No matter what your church preference is, or your denominational views, take this time to let peace reign in your life.
